Racing Exhaust |
This
fine example of a Jackson Racing exhaust was Imported from the States
for $499 plus delivery and tax (about 110 UK pounds) plus fitting
(about 20 UK pounds). It can be purchased in the UK but at a slightly
higher cost.
"It's
the tops in both sound and appearance"

"Lovely
deep sound, although a little boomy at certain revs"
"With
it being such a big tail pipe, there was some difficulty in getting
it to fit so it didn't knock against anything."
"As
to performance gains, let's just say it sounds faster at least!"

"I
had one of those exhausts; replaced with Stainless Steel 'coz it
disintegrated :-( "
"Looks
and sounds great!!!!"
Admittedly
it was a bit boomy on the motorway, but on the back lanes/going
under bridges it was fantastic!

Exhaust |
"Fitting
the exhaust is a bit annoying - take out the two bolts on the cat
and unhook the old exhaust from the rubber hooks, then fit the new
exhaust in. Doesn't sound too difficult, but undoing the two bolts
can be nigh-on impossible. Its best to soak them with WD-40 the night
before you intend to remove them, or go to a garage and get them to
do it! Does it make much difference? Yep - the engine is definitely
quicker through the revs, so the acceleration has been improved. Its
probably increased the performance by about 5bhp or so." |

"much
more subtle noise and good for a few more bhp."

"Red
Lyl's standard exhaust never did look particularly pretty, at least
not since she's been with us, and so far funds haven't stretched to
new pipework while the existing stuff sounds ok and does the job.
While at the mini-national rally at Beaulieu recently, we got this
from Maztek to smarten things up a bit in the interim." |

| Imported
from the states but similar now available through Donutz |
"This
Exhaust is a Flyin Miata Catback Dual Zorst, it has 2 x 3.5mm rolled,
polished and resonated tips and is made from stainless steel. Cost
700 quid to import from the states. Its best looking and sounding
zorst I've heard on a 5, mx5 mates from the NE love the sound, really
deep and not tinny like a scorpion etc. Copies of the zorst are now
available from donutz for half the price I paid for mine and their
guaranted for life and made in Germany." |

| Scorpion |
"Shown are pictures of the Scorpion Stainless Steel Single exit pipe
back box for the MK2 - Should be available in July 2000 from Scorpion
stockists. Its on my MK2 and the sound is getting better mile on mile.
At first it seemed to be all too quiet for a replacement system, but
a few hundred miles on and under load the tone had improved and now
there is a throbbing bass note coming over. Don't dispair the exhaust
does not deafen you top up or down, when idle you may not even realise
its been changed, just take it up the rev range under load then you
know! The tip is oval and fits snuggly into the hole kindly supplied
by Mazda just as if it should have been there from day 1! All in all
a pleasant change from the factory box" |

Superflow Air Intake.
Beautifully made; this is not just an airfilter stuck on the end
of the air flow meter, but incorporates a machined alloy ram pipe.
Throttle response is fantastic. Uses a sponge filter which you clean
merely by washing in soapy water.

Mongoose
catback: Big 3.5" resonated tip fills the bumper cutout nicely, without
looking stupid like some Japanese "Coffeecan" exhausts. Definitly
better cruising ability on a motorway (ie. better midrange torque)
than the previous system (Fujitsubo FGK). Nicely made fairly good
fit (good clearance over the rear chassis brace, needs a little fettling
to get centred in the cutout. |

Racing Header
(Exhaust Manifold)
Replaces
the standard header to allow more air flow from the Supercharger
(see Engine Mods). Also keeps the temp
in the header, not in the engine bay.

this from the US. Looks a quality bit of kit, and will improve the
performance of your car, when used with a decent free-flowing exhaust".
