Quick Tip!
Setting your ignition timing to 14 degrees (normally 10 degrees) will give you some extra low-end torque and better acceleration response.

DOES YOUR GEAR GAITER KEEP SLIPPING DOWN
Interior VicP writes "If you find your gear gaiter is slipping down you are probably missing the foam cylinder from around the stick. Here is a very simple and inexpensive mod to combat this, especially with an aftermarket gear knob. "

HIDE THOSE SCREW HEADS
Interior Anonymous writes "IF YOU HAVE A BLACK INTERIOR THIS SIMPLE CHEAP MOD WILL ENHANCE THE LOOK. Around the interior of your MX5, with the hood up or down, you will see a multitude of bare screw heads. These can be simply covered with 10mm BLACK PLASTIC screw covers, available from any DIY store. Those around the hood locking clips can be secured with a small dap of super glue. Don't forget the sun shade screws either."

Instrument light dimmer
Interior smeegazzle writes "On one of the switch blanks (mine was the middle one), you will find a metal strip connecting two wires. If you disconnect the plug from the blank and fit a 10ohm high wattage resistor (5 or 10 watt) with a switch across it - you get a switchable instrument dimmer! I leave the switch location and type up to you... Maplin do some nice simple, latching push button switches for about a pound. Love Smeegazzle (tight bastid)"

Rear window protector (Atlantic Designs)
Interior MarkM writes "I bought this in the summer even before I had my new mohair hood with folding rear glass fitted. My then fiancee' (now my wife!) who is American brought it over with her. The advantage of buying from America is you can get the Tan colour whereas only black seems to be available in the UK market."
